Quality first, the rest will follow

Fifty-five years.
One recipe.

We have been making world-class dried meats since 1970. The recipe hasn’t changed.

1970

Our original recipe

Mr Jan De Beer perfected our original recipe for boerewors, biltong and droëwors in Brits, South Africa. The products became popular with the local community, and word spread fast about the family’s commitment to quality. This was only the start of the De Beer family’s journey.

2003

Australia beckons

The De Beer family decided to put down roots in Brisbane. It wasn’t easy, but they opened several butcher shops around Queensland and introduced the family recipe to Aussies young and old. Success was phenomenal, and demand soon outgrew the kitchen.

2010

Our first factory

Demand for our boerewors, biltong and droëwors kept growing, so we opened a brand new factory in Capalaba, Brisbane. Production doubled, and we started offering contract manufacturing.

2016

Capalaba expansion

Contract manufacturing, custom recipe blending, packaging and logistics proved so popular that we needed more space, more equipment and more staff. We expanded the Capalaba factory.

2019

Bigger things

We outgrew Capalaba again, so we thought big, and custom-built our factory in Rocklea, Brisbane. It was almost five times the floor space, more equipment and over 25 staff.

Today

From our family to yours

Rocklea is still turning out high-quality boerewors, biltong and droëwors, made here in sunny Queensland. We make it with passion and a commitment to quality that keeps growing.
